So my sweet Josh, a golden doodle (which if you don’t already know is a cross between a standard poodle and golden retriever) turned 11 on July 1st this year.

For a big dog, he is truly a lucky guy, but really I am to be his dog mom!

I know many people love puppies.  Puppies are darn stinky cute, active and adventurous.  But in my opinion, OLD DOGS ROCK!

Even though my big guy can’t go for super long walks, jump into the bed by himself any more, catch the ball on the first throw or stand for an extended amount of time…. his whole heart is still in the game and I feel it from him every day.

Josh has always been sweet, but now he is super sweet to everyone.  I have people say all the time that Josh makes them feel like he likes “them the most”, but in reality he is just really good at giving out love.  I hate to burst their bubble but the reality is…. HE WILL ALWAYS GO HOME WITH ME.

Josh has always been active and loves his long walks.  We still go.  Go for car rides.  Go to the dog park. Go for walks.  He hasn’t let his age deter him from wanting to go but now I have to be protective of his well being.  We don’t go for walks when it’s too hot (which is tough when you live in Texas) and we don’t go for long walks like we use to…. that’s ok…. it’ about the time we get to spend together.

I got Josh after a divorce and major move from Boston to Austin.  He came into my life when I was starting a new chapter in my life.  We have spent many hours together and have always been a pair.  He is my buddy.  He is my shadow.  He is just as important as any member in my family.

I am honored to have this old dog in my life.  I am honored to care for him and love him unconditionally.  I wouldn’t have it any other way!  Old Dogs ROCK!
